Our Story
Background & Evolution
KASO Foundation began as a small initiative focused on economic empowerment and skills training. Over the years, we have grown into a recognized force for change, helping hundreds of young people and women build better lives.
As we worked with vulnerable communities, we saw an urgent need to address the increasing number of street children in Rwanda. Many of these children have been pushed to the streets due to family conflicts, neglect, and economic hardship. In response, HabaHome Safe Haven was born; a program designed to provide street children with a welcoming space where they can access basic needs, therapy, and support to reintegrate into society.

KASO Foundation is dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children and women in Rwanda by providing sustainable solutions that foster dignity, self-reliance, and well-being. Through our HabaHome Safe Haven initiative, we are creating safe spaces where street children can find healing, guidance, and a path toward a stable future.
We believe that every child deserves a chance to grow in a nurturing environment, free from the struggles of street life. Our mission is to provide not just temporary relief but lasting change; restoring hope, rebuilding lives, and empowering communities.
What We Do
Core Programs & Home Therapy Focus
KASO Foundation operates a range of initiatives focused on economic empowerment, job creation, and skill development. These programs have helped countless individuals, from former street children to unemployed graduates, gain meaningful employment and independence.
At the heart of our work is HabaHome Safe Haven, a transformative initiative designed to provide street children with:
- A Safe Haven: A space where they can access water, food, and clothing in a dignified manner.
- Therapy & Counseling: Psychological support using proven techniques inspired by behavioral science to help children break free from negative cycles.
- Engagement & Skill Development: Activities like physical games, PlayStations, and creative learning to help them see a future beyond the streets.
- Gradual Reintegration: A step-by-step approach to making street life unattractive while encouraging a stable and positive transition.
Impact & Future Goals
Through our initiatives, we have empowered individuals to rise above their circumstances, from training young entrepreneurs to providing skills to former street children.
Our vision for the future is to expand HabaHome Safe Haven across Rwanda, reaching more children and addressing the root causes of street life. We aim to:
- Establish more safe spaces for street children.
- Provide long-term educational and vocational opportunities.
- Work closely with families and communities to prevent children from ending up on the streets in the first place.
